well a big thanks to all those that responded to this thread, have had the cabstar a few weeks now and it is a lovely pick up

it does have its nuances, such as the passenger seats being at an 85 deg. angle ,which means the lads cannot fall asleep
also it is an extremely bumpy ride when unladen.
but it wizzes up hill s with 2 tonne on in 3rd gear so i can forgive that
over the first 1000 miles fuel consumption is averaging 26MPG which aint bad for a diesel around town mainly i reckon it would go 35 on the open road(where is that in the south east?)
anyway very happy and would recommend "holmwood leasing" and mick patten to anyone that needs a new motor, professional service throughout
Image
also thx to DDD for the many bits of advice he has given me recently
cheers all

What is the extension to the ladder rack for?
Have you got central locking on the key fob?

My mate has got a silver single wheel new shape tipper, but he didn't get central locking

I'd get a labourer to paint them!

DDD: The ladder rack (assuming you meam the thing on the bulkhead) means you can carry long lengths of timber...

The rear view mirror on mine is pretty useless.

The hardest thing is reversing them into tight parking spots. The flat bed is quite high and can overhang a lot of cars but reverse parking into a slot in front of a Bentley by yourself is always a little worrying!

I fitted a rear view camera to my cabstar. Being a double cab, it is just too long to reverse park easily, plus i can reverse right up to my trailer and get the tow hitch right over the tow ball!

Why can you just use the existing ladder rack? how does adding an extension to the top help you carry longer lengths. I havent done this to mine, yet i can carry long lengths with no problem. or am i being thick?

If you put 16' lengths of timber on the truck extending over the cab you need those horns to prevent them sliding off when you go round corners...

You can tie the timbers down but horns make things much safer IMO...

My Cabstar had no horns so I just welded some on...

Makes loading and transporting timber quick and easy.

Have you got central locking on the key fob?

central locking? of course although i'm not a big fan of gadgets on work vans
leccy windows, electronic hill start (still havent figured that out) leccy mirrors,cd player, horrible noise if you leave the keys in the ignition for 1 second :) and there must be 15 nooks crannies and holes in the cab for ah folders, keys, phones, loose change, drawings etc.
odometer,distance to empty,avg fuel consumption,current consumption etc.
its as posh as a car lol
mind you we had to hand dig some footings this week 1500 deep in wet clay ,so the seats and floor have been christened
cheers LLL :D
