got a mate ,who knows everything about everything, you know the sort ,nice bloke but if you have a porsche he has a maserati etc etc
asked for a price for his patio
anyway gave it to him 2 years ago 4 grand
"I thought we were mates " he cried
"that is mates rates" I told him
"I thought about 2 grand" he said

anyway convinced that all and sundry were out to rip him off he engaged a hod carrier to do the work and bought the gear himself

you know whats coming dont you? :-)

ended up costing him 5 grand ,and saw him last night and he said that its not a bad job ,just that some of the flags move when you walk on them! water runs into the airbricks etc etc

have to say it made me smile

LLL :)

You did your best. You'll tell that story next time someone gives you the look after you give them your price.
Chances are they'll make the same mistake.

Get's on my T**s when mates ask for mates rates... Never again will I do it. What I currently charge provides me a good income but not without hard hard work and a fair share of mild suffering. They pay what everyone else pays and that's that... unless I owe them..

I don't charge mates the same as Joe public. I did a mates drive for nothing on the labour, got his blocks cheap and he got the rest.
He's a mechanic.
I've got 2 cars and a truck :)
