Guy I spoke to initially said £180 to grab. Not sure if that was inc or plus vat.

Anyway now he's saying £240 and its 12 1/2 ton max.

Ultimately that's marginally cheaper than a skip. Marginally. with the added hassle that I've got to remove all roots and turf.

What do you reckon. £180 plus VAT seemed good to me but I assumed that would be for an 8 wheeler which is 18 tons .

the above price... I may as well go with skip. I've still got to move the earth the same distance, barring up a ramp into the skip.

Around 200+vat round my way for 16t I'd ring around as that's dear for not being a full size grab.
Round here they don't mind turf too much but no roots they also get funny sometimes about scalpings even if it's just scalpings, although they have no problem selling it:rock:

In the end paid 950 something for 32 tons of disposal and 20 tons of type 1 CC.

Quite happy. Especially as I calculated disposal as 35 tons dry 45 wet and it's looking like gonna be 35 to the ton.

I pay £180 + vat for 8 wheelers that take 18 tons.
Turf and roots are a problem. Something to do with methane.

The money you guys are paying for muck away and transport..........I'm glad I run my own fleet of trucks! I call them "Mobile Skips" as that's what they basically are, plus they are mobile adverts for me going to and from jobs.

Even with your own wagons, you still need a licensed site on which you can tip, and that's when the tax comes in. How much is it now for, say, an 8-wheeler to tip?

Obviously that rates will vary around the country but that's what I pay to tip sub-grade excavated material, no concrete tarmac or roots etc
