the lads finished today but the plasterers are working over xmas
kitchen is coming on the 11th jan and it has to be ready
the good and bad thing with this type of work is that you can take your foot off the gas
which is good because it keeps me out of the ale house
and bad because the family start moaning
you cant win either way

I think LLL is helping the guys out by working, we aren't all loaded and could alway do with the extra pennies. I finished today also.

most of the crew are off till the 4th
but the plasterers prefer to work when no one else is in their way
they are 60 and 56 so I tend to defer to their views a little
same as myself it keeps them out of the pub

I agree. This is the first year ever where I'm OK enough to put my feet up and not worry. Actually quite enjoying doing nothing,,, so far.
I'm sure boredom will set in in a few days....

Same here, i could of finished last Friday. It was more or less a show of hands for working the 3 days this week, needed numbers for it to be viable, so i agreed work so others less fortunate could also work. I always put a few bob case money aside times like this, not everyone can.
Hope you all have a merry Christmas and prosperous new year

we could have a month of snow in february and then the extended xmas break will seem like a nightmare
popped down to londonstone today and their team were beavering away
its a fact of life now that xmas is just a big commercial venture intended to extract money from poor people by rich people
how many are going to midnight mass tonight?

Bah Humbug Sean & Tony :p
I enjoy taking some time out and what better time of year to do it than when the days are short and the weathers shite.
Besides I finished my main job on Wednesday 16th and filled the remainder of the week with a couple of small jobs, buggered if I'm starting another.
Christmas always seems to be a deadline and I like to finish with no loose ends.
Tony, yes the commercial aspect can slightly tarnish Christmas but it's also a great time to catch up with family and friends when there is little time the rest of the year.
Fact is we all get caught up in it one way or another so bloody well enjoy it before it's back to the grind.
And January and Feb are going to be cracking Months weatherwise so don't fear ???

Bah humbug indeed. I'd much rather have time off when the weather is nice, no running round like a man demented trying to buy presents that will probably end up on ebay, in a charity shop, or be given to someone else next year. I've spent most of the day wrapping, taping etc; and i can honestly say i'd rather of been laying a pipe run. Got miles to drive tomorrow dropping off presents and the wife and i won't start cooking our dinner until we get back about 3ish just in time for her majes speech.
Merry xmas to all and your families
