Caledonia canal - Hand dig

This is for Tony lowt or anyone else that does it, I don't.
Watched a program about the Caledonia canal. To get a navy job you had to hand dig 12 square yards a day.

think i read before you got a token for every barrow you tipped so it wasnt just digging it was moving it as well

Yes Tony, sorry cubic. If they got a token every Barrow, they would have pockets full by the end of the shift

my scottish family were originally from ireland so these is a good chance they came over to dig that canal :O
