my advice, if going for CCTV, get something with decent night vision.
Best bang for your buck - alarm system that phones you when it goes off. Had a few teething problems with rats setting mine off but better off getting to yard in 10 minutes with a 2 by 4 than waiting for pc plod to show up a week later saying sorry we have no idea what we're doing.

I have a swann system at home but its a drag looking through hours and hours of nothing to see any transgression

for a specific lockup we have one of these

http://www.amazon.co.uk/MINOX-DTC-1000-Trail-Camera/dp/B00CHUO2NM

rechargeable batteries but every time there is movement it sends a HD image to either your phone or an email address

but ,big but if an alarm goes off it takes some balls for a thief to wait and see if the old bill come

cheers LLL

PS you get what you pay for with security

you can by 2 or 4 channel DVR recorders for £70 on ebay that take a memory card, set to motion record and you get plenty of recording time, then you just need decent cameras

Good thread. I'm looking into this myself. Pay my mum some rent for her double garage and some of the garden. Lot of gypos round my way going around in their horse and carts. I want something that'll send an alarm to my phone so I can try and get there myself should something go awry. Partly cos the old dear lives alone and partly cos I f*****g hate tool thieves!
