Went to a BBQ a few weeks back and got 2 jobs out of it.

1 was OK as it's for my 2nd Mum who semi brought me up so I did enjoy sorting her life out a bit and returning one of the many favors she's done for me but on the whole I hate working for friends or friends/ family of friends.

Reason being is I find it more stressful. If I do a quote and it works out I've sold myself short, I take it on the chin, if things go ultra smooth I earn good money and perhaps get a day extra off. With friends I always want to get it spot on so they get the best deal or I worry. What invariably happens is I earn f**k all cos something goes slightly awry and I've tuned the quote down too far.

Am I a soft touch or do others have this problem.

Stop overthinking it, friends will understand that you need to make a living.
If you insist on giving them a discount then take cash.

Yes, you are right! No more mates rates.

Can't do cash cos I want to buy a house. Need to pay the tax!
