I work with some other construction-related bodies based in NI and it's always refreshing to witness at first hand how devoid of bullshit they are compared to the equivalent UK or, in particular, English bodies.
I know a lot of that stems from working to serve a much smaller population, and consequently having a much smaller bureaucracy, but there's also a sense of keeping it simple with no dancing around to other folks' tunes.
On one project looking at H&S in the paving trade, we have fantastic input from the HSE in NI who turn up to every meeting, regardless of venue, and always have something of value to contribute, which contrasts with "participants" from southern England who can't make it to meetings in the north in case they get molested by whippets, or flattened by rogue vowels.

You may not be so chipper about it if you saw the wage bill for the public sector in northern ireland which you pay for too.
There is a real plethora of public sector jobs here that have been created because someone thought we should have a......
It is particularly evident in construction related fields which sky rocketed during our housing boom in 06/07 and whilst the private sector jobs like SAP ratings assesors dissapeared the public sector equivalents are in the main still there twiddling thumbs dreaming up jobs to do.
Good booklet though!!
