We recently had new tarmac put down in our driveway. It was raining the day they laid the Tarmac so it looked nice and black. When it dried we saw it had a lot of mud marks but we thought they would fade. It has been 10 days laid now and the mud marks (looks like the mud was on the roller) are still there and we can't get them out. We used a Yard brush with alot of force and Sugar Soap to try and lift them but no they won't shift. The mud is embeded into the Tarmac, like it got mixed up with the oil. It looks unsightly. I have never seen a new Tarmac drive like it. Has anyone any idea 1) How to remove the mud or 2) Is the onus on the Contractor to fix this and if so 3) How does he do this?

Posting a pic would give us a better idea. Could it be rust marks?

I have seen a photo that looks the same on this site under nig1 and the comments there are either rusty roller, dirty water or mud. I think it is mud as they removed a ditch area in bringing the Tarmac out to the road and you can see the exposed mud bank. Apparently it will weather in after about a year.!!

If it is a small amount of surface discolouration with a bit of dirt, then it will wear in/wash away with use, so I'd not worry about it.
