Has anyone used self binding slate? Does it work or is bull?Pinks Hill
See snowdonian self binding slate. It does look good but I doubt it will compact well.

It's the slate rubble that's dumped in huge waste tips all over NW Wales, from Penrhyn to Blaenau and Nantlles. It does self-bind, after a fashion, and is widely used in that area as a cheap and cheerless dressing for drives and forecourts. It compacts exceptionally well: in fact, it has a tendency to crush to dust and so forms a very well compacted surface.
In 2002, a contractor in that area was paying 6 quid per tonne delivered to site - I'll bet you can't get it for that price from Pinks Hill!
