Loose gravel all over olympic park - What's that all about?

Setts and cobbles, tarmac, asphalt, resin systems, concrete whether it's plain, patterned or stencilled, gravels, etc.

I went to Stratford today to see the mens synchronised diving. Having looked at this site on many occassions to get ideas for gardens and drives I know a little abour doing bonded gravel but never done it myself.

Considering how many billions you and I have coughed up to build this Olympic park I was shocked to see loads of loose gravel which I guess should have been bonded and glued to the asphalt and not dusting all over my shoes.

Anyone know anything about it?

Cheers
Paul

All the medals are gone off that job a long time ago ,so I'm not surprised the sweeper didn't go back!

In some places the gravel was stuck, others there were bald patches where I could see the concrete underneath and in others it seemed all loose with none bonded.

Considering the general high standard throughout I think someone droped a bit of a clanger.

Every time I see examples of Resin bonding, be it Private or Commercial, it looks shoddy. It's been used in loads of places in Brum central, and around Walsalls Art Gallery, and quite a few other big status "Pedestrian" areas around the West Midlands, and I'm really not impressed with it. Perhaps, as seems normal with a lot of commercial projects I've witnessed being done, the guys doing it are not that well trained or corners cut for what ever reason, but the results I have personally seen are mainly Poor.

Sad me...I took a photo of the resin pavement when I guess I shouldve been more interested in the sport.

I agree Pablo, that's self binding, probably just put down as a temporary surface. They're changing quite a bit of the area after all the sports aren't they?

That's tarmacs Breedon self binding gravel not resin bound

Recognise the colour comes out of a quarry I drive past a lot in Stoney Middleton
