I did an internal UK Skills comp a few years back. Series of basic projects to complete, Block paving, slabs, brick pillar etc, managed to beat a dedicated brick laying course, and a more general horticulture course.

Would've represented at regional level, but I had an eye operation, and couldn't make it.

I competed in the comp at inter college level in 2006 and 07, its a good experience! The one thing i would say is dont turn up hungover as it was the college party the night before! Still managed to get a 3rd, the 2 teams above us where a team of pros doing a part time course and a team of second year hard landscaping students, so not too bad!

Still have my certificates and t-shirts.
