Just got back from a week in Tenerife. While I was out there I had a days fishing on a boat. There were 5 of us on the boat and we had a big rod each fishing on the bottom for stingrays and also a small rod each to catch bait fish with. We'd been there for about 10 minutes when the man from Leicesters big rod took off, he was playing the fish for about 10 minutes before his 150lb line broke!
At that point we all did a bit of a double take. We carried on fishing and about 15 minutes later, the bloke from Scotland's big rod took off. He was plying the fish for about 20 minutes by which point he was absolutely bollocksed and asked if anyone else wanted a go,0. I stepped up and had a go thinking to myself "no problem, I'll pull this effer up". After about 5 mins my back was screaming and my arms were aching. I could have gladly passed the rod to the next person but male pride made me endure the pain for 20 minutes.
Anyway to cut it short, everyone on the boat include the skipper (6 people) had a 20 minute stint trying To hall this leviathan up from the depths. All to no avail, after an hour and a half we reluctantly had to cu the line
How's that for a fishermans tale ?
