I got myself some very nice 4 inch square bright granite cobbles today.
Think the guy mis-priced them, as they were less than half the price of other places....160 cobbles@41p each( £65!!! ). I bought them to cover 16m linear, leaving extra to allow me to pick the best of a good bunch. 10mm pointing, perhaps darkish.
They are tumbled, so will look great.
Anyway, I'll be using them as a simple border between grass and some pebbles. Ground is currently 4 inches of compacted sand.
I'm after options for fixing them in place. I've pegged and lined the inside edge, so was thinking of digging a 100mm deep trench, filling it with 4:1 and sinking the cobs in to a depth of 50mm ( leaving 50mm exposed, the same 50mm depth of gravel, and the overall height of my trimmed grass.
Also, a good few of them need a wash( just covered in granite dust. options ? hot water and flash ?? pressure washer ?? old fashioned scrubbing ? )
