Im all for h&s just not the bullshit that goes with it, im prepared to use common sense to avoid said bullshit.

Got told to cover my forearms up once on a site, i asked why? Couldnt answer?

On same site got told that if i dont have glasses on ALL the time, then i cannot return to site the next day, i was taping fecking visqueen together.....

Pure bollocks.

I met a painter who was painting a new flat in a completed block. he was the only one in the room, but had to wear a yellow hi-vis, toe tectors, hard hat and saftey goggles.
he walked off site

dan your arms being covered is all to do with fire and burn protection. people have turned h/s into a joke with their handling of the tasks at hand and blindly following company procedure rather than letting common sense rule.

Yea but, time and place surely?

For lads laying kerbs, drainage etc, completely unnecessary IMO

Very much this.
I has been applied 'for the sake of it' in some cases which totally defeats the buy in from operatives on site.

Just done my first day of my NEBOSH construction certificate course, with a view to a career change towards managing health and safety...watch this space lol. At least I've got a bit of time served like a lot of H&S advisors had the misfortune to work with.

Health and safety at work act 1974, Clyde Coal vs. English 1938, and I've got acronyms coming out of my ears, all interesting stuff though.
