Hi gents its the weekend so ive got time to do some work on my house,
i need to put another ceiling up in my kitchen but the joists are not level and are quite a bit out in some places they are about 25mm...
whats the best way of sorting this so i dont need half a tonne of plastering done to make it look good...

Maybe find the lowest point and rip some timbers down into long wedge shape, tack them on, then go through the plaster board and wedges with long plasterboard screws.

I was supposed to do some plaster boarding myself at the weekend but I discovered a rotten wall plate. Replaced that then on to the plaster boarding, then discovered a couple of rotten floor beams. Replaced them and in the end managed to get a piece in. Unfortunately mine was only a 6x3.
Teach me to buy an old house, every time I do something I discover something else that needs doing. I'll be skint in no time at this rate

oh thats the joys of doing your own stuff you find something wrong or rotten and have the chance of putting it right , at a fraction of the cost,
well im back to work tomorrow for a rest, ceiling up lights in and skimmed and all walls electrics in too, just letting it dry out now, its only taken a week to do and we only have the old sink still in place.... diy... all the way here im afraid...

I am very selective about what I do. I dont mind doing prep work for the trades but I wont attempt anything unless I know I can get the finish right. I'll be starting work on the patio this weekend, should be able to manage that.
