Hi Lads, i know LPAD has tried to help me out regarding google adwords, but we still seem to be struggling, the people that built the site...apart from ripping me off are also fecking clueless as to why it isnt working, it also makes it awkward as they are people i know, she is married to a copper and they live just down the road from me, so giving them a hard time is difficult lol.

Anyone any ideas? If anyone can help get it up and running i would be very grateful and would return the favour in any way i could....(within reason)

Cheers Kuts the bloody annoying thing is that ive paid over £800.00 for a site that no fecker can find, its like advertising in a magazine that isnt for sale, fecking pointless!!

And the web designers want more money to sort it out!

how much access do you have to the site? can you change wording/metadata/alt tags?

They are all the same, sell you a website but forget to mention all the work it takes to get you found.

My mate got robbed by them a few months ago, he paid about £600 an i cant find him on google!

I would give a firm letter stating you problems and consider the court route as goods are not fit for the job,
read your contract and find out if any thing says they can charge you more,
who says they are in breach of policy and what is this policy?
ask advice from another web designer as to a second opinion
maybe look through the web and read other peoples sites to see what you missing
you need lots of metatags for the webcrawlers to pick up on,never to many discribe in detail using word that go with the job MSH
:)

Lads i havent got a clue what all these meta wotsits are, i have not got any access to the site, but she did say when the need arises she will show me how to upload photies and change txt etc.

I will try and find the contract from them.

Dunno MSH summat about google's landing page policy, i havent even read it cuz it means nowt to me!

For 800 notes i was expecting a fully fledged "findable" site

Yep i cant be found on google unless you google DN Groundworks even then im not at the top, if you google "groundwork preston" or any similar variation its a no show.

Takes awhile to show up on googles organic search. A year and more.
If you go the adwords route you show up straight away and it will help bump your listing up on the organic search. All this should have been explained to you before any money was handed over though.

I only play at the code side of things (due to the day time job) but all keyword and description tags seem to be in the right place.

However adwords should show with the worst of sites as they are directed by click and not content, there are strict guidlines to things like repeat content (spam) but it is probably a simple error when your adwords were set up.

Google `google webmaster` and you will (eventually) find loads of helpful forums.

All companies promise google first page which is bollox, i can get you top of page one with wolfnipplechip.com tomorrow because there will be no competition, well actually they reckon 6 weeks as an average to get indexed and moved through the ranks.

If you are looking at something like ` bestdriveways.com` you have to work bloody hard, its taken me 2 years to get top 3 on page 1 for some of the more competative search terms i work with. Even then i can drop two pages (25% of visits) in a month when google decide to move the goal posts, its like a game of chess and you have to work at it.

Even so it shouldnt affect ppc which the topic is about

Erm slight problem there Kuts i have deleted the bloody email and the contract emailed over to me by the web designers doh, not like me that i only ever permanently delete proper junk, i have emails going back years aswell.

What i could do though is send you an invitation from my adwords account that will give you administrative access for you to have a play with? If thats ok?
