as a employer you have to provide a safe everoment to work in ie smoke free you are liable to big fines if caught out or reported

Yep, no more stuff in the cab of the van either, plus the responsibilty of workplace manslaughter etc. ltd status isnt all roses, much more responsibilty

surely its down to individual company policy the smoking thing, i subcontracted to a civils company who employ 100 plus lads we all smoked on site? There company policy allowed it? I understand not smoking in the van

smoking is a sticky one
i spoke to a copper and he said they have better things to do than enforce no smoking in work vehicles
big sites its designated areas only/if any
never heard about the limited company thing as I have been a limited company for 18 years
but it looks unprofessional,is dirty, and unhealthy
we only have 2 smokers now out of 8 subbies and they have to smoke in their vans in their own times
hate seeing dog butts on jobs

surely those mountains of scram that you and haggi devour are flouting health and safety laws. You need a risk assesment in manual handling to carry the plates to the table :D

I am not keen on smoking at work ,but smoking outdoors can hardly be classified as a health issue?
the lungfuls of diesel fumes from mixers and dumpers must be nearly as bad, also bending over 12 hours a day laying the big ones could hardly be described as pilates?
cheers LLL

H/S issue at work my arse, if your working outside and for a client that allows smoking on their land then its happy days for the smoker. As an employer you only have to allow "as per company policy allow smoking in employees own time". IE lunch breaks etc :O

on our last big job for my dads company we had a no smoking in the building policy, this started when roof went on and in the brew cabin, lads could smoke out side the brew cabin or in the cement shipping container in the rain, but my dads a big anti smoker anyway
