Hi All

As per previous posts it's that time year again and my insurances are due up. Had the renewal's received in the post over Christmas and had a bit of a shock ! It ain't changing much once I get haggling on the phone.

Basicly I'm looking at PL insurance - General Handyman / Gardener / Fencing / Landscaper for me and 2 part time employees. Need Chainsaw cover

Tool insurance seems a bit of a nightmare - had a chat with my van insurance co and once I sorted the sales chat from fact a £350 premium wasn't worth it. Van needs Cat 1 alarm and then not really covered when left out overnite. Nail guns / Chainsaws / powertools etc are all locked garaged overnite and fourtunatly working day isn't far from the van.

Also Personal Accident Insurance - current long standing policy with Combined Insurance ( from racing motorbikes ) but it's getting expensive and I'm hearing horror stories about them. Arriva seem to be in the market but what do you guys do ?

Thanks in advance - site is brill and although I don't post often I regulary pop in - it's a real gem !

Cheers

Alan.

Think im with Morehouse. have been for a few years.
Reasonable on price, but never needed them yet, (touch wood). Thats when you find out if there good or not!

Try NFU they always come good for me. Also you could maybe split your policies up so the van has comp cover but no tool cover then a separate policy for tools etc.
Can't see it from my house

Use a broker.i'm currently with giles insurance and have saved a fortune on last years premiums. they receive their commisions from the insurance co's not you and saves you a lot of fannying around on the phone.

Cheers Guys

Am with Simply Business @ the mo with some stuff so will batter them a bit more and appreciate the idea of splitting up policys.

Local NFU office just around the corner so will call in and see them tomorrow.

Still stuck on personal accident so will have to give that some more work - I think Combined are coming out of the bike market.

Alan
