I`m looking to purchase a 7.5 ton tipper very soon,
possibly a Daf 45 or a iveco eurocargo, was wondering if any
of you lads know of a decent one for sale anywhere
around the north west, looking for one around an 06 reg

and at least £3000 in the bank as well. When you apply for your operators license you also have to demonstrate that you have advertised the fact that you are seeking an operators license in the local press (cut out of advertisement)

I wouldnt bother, the requirements are an absolute joke, and dont get me started...again...on b+e towing law, im sure people are paid within the powers that be to make the small guys like us, lives difficult, purely to extract the max amount of money via ridiculous legislation.
I mean why would advertising that you are seeking an operators licence matter a shite to anyone that reads the paper?
Or the 3 grand in the bank? I understand that it is for emergency repairs, if it was me and i couldnt afford to fix it, i would park it up or sorn it and manage with my normal van.
You need a yard with the entrance/exit approved by the local traffic commission, to make sure it is safe to use......even though it is perfectly fine for a a normal vehicle to use. It has to go back to that yard every night.
6 weekly checks by the ministry, what a pain.
I thought about it, and its just to much money/hastle and not viable for me anyway. But i agree, it would be very handy. There was some decent ones on ebay last time i looked.

Lot of hoops to jump through for small businesses. If you're serious about it, the ex MoD ones seem to go for good prices.
This thread has just reminded me that I need to go and report some t*at who has his 2 7.5T lorries parked in the street every night.

I learnt the same when i looked in to the o license. 100mtrs clear view both sides was the issue from my yard at the time.

I have run 7.5 ton for 10 years,i dont employ any one,yes some rules are a pain but all in all i would not be without it,
don't worry about the towing thing,3t digger goes on the back
the money in the bank bit,you only have to show vosa you have the money availble ,such as a overdraft

3 ton machine with buckets up in the back of a 7.5t wagon? Make sure your axle weights are ok as VOSA get very jumpy at that!

its a pain well not for me (mum runs the office ) but they are so handy we use our 7.5 ton all the time, weve got a man 4cyc turbo runs well and drives best loaded. off road had 6 ton in it easy and pulls all day...
