Just wondering if i can replace the tiles on my front door step with Paving Tiles?
All my tiles lifted as a result of the hard frost and I have seen some nice Paving Tiles i'd like to replace them with.
The step(s) are concrete and is fairly level except in a few areas where the frost has caused it to crumble. All in all it's a small flat surface tho (1000x1300) so is it ok to concrete them direclty onto the existing surface?
The tiles I want to use are 450x450.

Yes, as long as they're 'outdoor' tiles ie: suitable slip resistance value and don't hold water.
Can attach them straight to concrete step as long as you prepare the step properly, that thoroughly cleaning it then slapping on some SBR or PVA (read the bottle to see ratio for prepping walls and floors).
Make sure you use the correct adhesive for whatever material your tiles are made of.

Thanks for that. The tiles are for outdoor use so I would assume that they wont hold water etc.
What sort of adhesive/cement should I use?

I'm no expert tiler but I believe it is usually a flexible cement based one for outdoor stuff. My Dad laid some quarry tiles on a concrete step a couple of years ago, the guy moaned about everything until my Dad snapped, booted the tiles over and over again as hard as he could with steel toe cap, yelling that it was a good job and to shut the hell up. They didn't move at all, that was with rapid set stuff that had only been down a couple of hours.

bit confused here
do you mean flags or tiles
to lay flags on a step ,prime with sbr,then lay the flags on a 3:1 grit sand :cement mix with sbr in every mix
adhesive is prolly the wrong gear for flagging
you need an overhand but around 35 mm is enough

I think he's talking about flags most prospective clients I meet call them tiles until I put them right.

If it is tiles, like 12mm thick tiles then follow my advice. If it is slabs, 25mm+ thick then follow LLL's advice.
