Garden path setting out

Setts and cobbles, tarmac, asphalt, resin systems, concrete whether it's plain, patterned or stencilled, gravels, etc.

Hi, I have read a lot of the info on this site and it has been very interesting. I am about to embark on a few small projects of my own and have a few questions that I would appreciate some advice on.
First question
I intend laying a new gravel garden path down the centre of our garden. The garden is long and thin. About 27 foot wide and 200 foot long The land drops away slightly from one side of the garden to the other side. In addition to this the garden starts off high by the house down to a gradual dip at about 100foot and then climbs again till the end of the garden.
These changes in levels are all quite incremental and smooth.
I plan on using concrete edging for the path with a sub base and then gravel on top. I realise that I need to level the path up in the width but am not quite sure how to establish a level line down the garden. Should I set out a string line to follow a long concave arc that kind of follows the lie of the land?
regards
James

i would follow the lie of the land as closely as possible for purely aesthetic reasons.
