wow! Has anyone ever hit a leccy cable? ive been through a water main and had to connect it back up live, got piss wet through and was a nightmare with the pressure as well!

Near to me the utilities where replacing a huge main that ran from the reservoirs, it was, so im told 2 foot 6 inch in diameter, anyhow a bloke on the digger knocked a valve off the top of the pipe, it shot a fountain up in the air for about 60ft for about 12 hours until the worked out how to stop it! :D, i do have a picture somewhere

haha being a groundworker ive cut through them all, water, gas. electric single and 3 phase, fibre optic!!, virgin media etc.

electric goes with a bang, a massive spark and a hole in your bucket, and then get the lads out to live joint it, or a resin torpedo repair if you just pull the sheaf off

water is an easy fix, get yourself a squeeze kit. i have a squeeze off and 2 fittings from 15mm-50mm and 8" sections of the respective pipe in my truck
i hit a 12" rusted cast iron main once, filled the 2m deep trench up in seconds...

gas can be fixed temp with water compression fittings, but then you have to get it welded with national grid they charge about £1500!! for emergency call out, we got a lad who does it for £200 cash

fibre optic is the worst, whole length has to be replaced.....

virgin is easy just coax and .5v so just bind it back together or block connector and tape it hehe

you are safe in your machine though act like a faradays cage, never had one ark like that, id have pulled the bucket off before getting out

last week in one dig in very rocky ground hit all 3 in 1 30m trench with a utility bucket on i.e no teeth bloody unlucky as id scanned the electric and had hand dug to it then pulled a lump of concrete out and it brought the electric with it, some clown had back filled the utility trench with concrete...

not sure its a big un, does upto 62mm pipe i think its about 150mm wide and 250mm high not like those toy ones in plumbers merchants... we've had it awhile, actually hes probably bought another one since ive knicked his for my truck :)

the live jointers now on the leccy want 350, as they have sat tracking so have to kick £100 upstairs to the higher boss :( still beats 3k though lol
