Not sure of the figures for the rest of the UK but i believe there were 10 applications for a street party licence on Merseyside, its not caught the public's imagination at all.
The Jubilee was a big thing in the 70s or at least it seemed that way to me at the age of 9 or 10, then again we may have been force fed the whole thing at school, Diana`s wedding in 81 (i think) cant remember if that was a public holiday or not but don`t recall any great fuss about it up here in the grim north
The `family` will struggle i suspect when `Liz` steps down, i think there is a lot of good will towards her in particular but the rest don't have much to offer.

Yes true, I remember having free food and a weeks party back in '77, that was just her Jubilee, not a wedding too :O
Di wedding was a day off, but I think that was the fledging days of media hype, having it rammed down your throat everywhere did get a bit annoying after a while. No holiday for Andy and Fergie IIRC lol.
I dont think the current succession to the throne offers much, but I think the younger generation (William etc) have a handle on it.
Its particularly significant for me as me and the bread knife got wed in New York on the same day last year ,under the Statue of Liberty too

yes, sorry to sound racist but your British and he`s Pakistani, if he was born here, he`s British and should have no problem with your flag and he also choose to live here so again he choose this country and its his flag now as well. :p

Working on the Day, but it's nice to see we're allowed to celebrate their Happy Day, especially as we Pay for it. Still it let's you know your place in the scheme of things and takes our mind of the shite state we're in. Rule Britannia:laugh:

we had a street party in 1977 one of the best days of my childhood,we did sponsored walks ,car washing all sorts to raise the money for it and all the mums and dads waited on us ,it was ace
watched the 81 jolly up on tv with my mum
tbh lost interest of late, good luck to them but there are thousands get married every week
RE flag
was in town with little miss lout getting her a new school bag
anyway in the bag shop the assistant asked " is that your bag?" pointing to a scruffy looking rucksack
a lady with a burka on piped up "no its mine"
the poor sod went as white as a sheet till she picked it up
its a shame that people generalise about whole religons due to a handful of nutters
i'm sure your neighbour will be just fine sean

......last one i put up because of the football he ripped it down. Could'nt prove it was him tho'. He thinks he's above our laws', he has taken off both his number plates, the front one he has put on the dash, obscured by the wipers. The other one he takes in the house ??? He has taken to parking on the lawn and because of the wet weather we had has made ruts 200 deep, broke the top off a rodding eye in the process. Can't be far off the services, i'm waiting for the explosion when he goes through the gas water etc
