This is a new one on me
I have just purchased some of these : http://www.amazon.co.uk/Good-Se...._a_smtd
I have problems with certain cats using my fence as a thorough fare, and my garden is surrounded on all sides by other peoples gardens.
My neighbour over the back came round to ask me to repair her fence, and we got talking about the cat problem, as her cat has been mauled by another cat. When i said what i was going to do she said you cannot use them. Apparently her neighbour told her (he's the Arse that complained about me using a digger in my garden asking if i had planning permission!) that legally you cannot put them up.
Is this just nonsense? surely there would be a warning on the website that sells them??
I have installed them for customers before , and have had no problems.

the look like plastic to me so i cannot see and hazard to humans putting them up,no different to the metal spikes put on roofs to keep pidgeons off MSH

they are plastic. I agree. cannot see a risk!

when they arrive in the packet will (should) be a little warning sign to put up then, sign up, spikes up, in the clear aka legal installation!!!

First of all it's not illegal, as in the state wouldn't prosecuted you it would be a civil tort.
They'd have to sue you, but as there plastic no case to answer as you've fulfilled you duty of care to anyone on your property. It's the old broken glass in mortar that was frowned upon.
A level law paying off hehe

Did have this conversation with the Ex-cid guy next door, he reckons barbed wire over six foot and not onto a public highways ok, so your placcy jobs must be fine.

I'm sure the police recommended those plastic spikes to me when i got burgled
i prefer carpet gripper,the blood curdling scream at 3AM lets you know that all is well in the garden :;):
in seriousness my father out law had a chinese takeaway that kept getting burgled via the fume extractor unit
i gripfilled 10 strips of carpet gripper where they were pulling themselves up to break in
3 weeks later ,claret everywhere,funny enough they didnt bother to sue us for protecting the place ???

those strips dont work, ive seen cats walking on them. and certainly not illegal to use. have a look at my site to see what else is available as an option

Funnilty enough i have seen your fencing before . A customer of mine in berkhamsted has had it installed. It does work. they installed it to stop thier cat getting out and amusingly, a neighbours cat got in and was trapped as it too couldn't escape!!

on a personal level i would like the law changed regarding cats
I had to pick 4 cat turds out of my asparagus beds today 
of course they dont do anything in their own garden
IMHO they are vermin and should be dealt with accordingly,if your dog gets onto a farmer's land the farmer quite rightly can and will shoot it
however cats seem to have more friends now than they did in ancient Egypt
I am ambivalent towards cats,but using my garden as a toilet is really p*&^ing me off
