I'm still looking for somebody to come and work with us here in the West Midlands. We are a small company, getting really busy and we need somebody who's a bit of an all rounderi.e Brickwork, Paving, groundwork bit of carpentry etc but who doesn't mind pitching in with a shovel and Barrow as well.
We are mainly a Domestic contractor, small to Large Projects, everything from a bit of Fencing to Large Garden Projects and also Natural Swimming Pools.
If anyone is interested either contact me through this site or give me a call:

Can feel your pain Mick. We've taken a few people on this year. Its been extremely difficult getting people to even come to job interviews. Non attendence of interviews has been at least 50%.
Its completely bafffling when you consider we are in the middle of a recession.
Where are you advertising the job?

the problem is ,if you advertise at the joke club, they send out all sorts of clowns,I made that mistake once
4 of the 5 they sent couldn't lay a brick

to be truthfull' I'm not sure where the best place is. I've given up with the job centre, and I had tried the local agricultural Colleges at Pershore and Morton Morel where they teach Landscaping courses but the only replies I've had have been 1 guy who had a sight impedimentand!!? therefore could only travel from Leamington Spa by Train, and 2m others with no experience. Most of the time I'm asking other Tradesmen and at suppliers.
I did try the local rag, and did get some response but none suitable.
Problem is the people I'm after are in work, either for themselves or someone else, cos if your anygood your grafting I suppose.

you have kind of answered your own question mick
problem i have is that if you get 'em nice and fresh at 16 they dont earn you a bean for 18 months
then at 20-21 they upsticks off chasing the big money
the latest addition we have PJ is a great grafter,i vivted a mate of mine doing a conservatory and i spotted him straightaway ,pure grafter
i knew my mate was short of work so i asked what pj was doing?
he had slipped a disc but i took his number anyway
2 years later i rang him and hey presto 6 months later here we are
too many lads in the pub can talk a good job
but when it comes to it they have a 30 minute tea break then want to go for a number 2 with the paper

I know mate, one of the lads brother came in to do a bit this week, just labouring really. Seemed ok yesterday, but I was busy so not really watching, but today he must of had a fag break every 20 mins. I asked him to take some Blue staffs Pavers out to the pick up, about 60 to go about 50 yds, and caught him carrying them 2 at a time, when I asked him why only 2 he said they were a bit heavy and the barrow had something in it, it was full of spoil waiting by the skip. Needless to say he's not coming in tomorrow!!
He'd only been telling us how he was going in the Army. If he gets in I'm surrendering.

hahaha as much as that? its almost worth coming up for.
ive got 3 positions coming up as we expand this year, not ready quite yet as we are crossing the t's and dotting the i's on two new contracts but its finding the right guys and as already said the good guys are already working. i have 2 good lads but they drink too much and as a consequence still havnt passed driving test. i have told them i can up the wage by 40% if they drive... dickheads, i'd be on it right now for that kind of money
