been out of work for two days .bored .had a flick through youtube come across my little old m8 eddie on regent street on you tube lol.type laying yorkstone on youtubeyou will see what i mean by the the pointing boards i was on about lll

Very nice job, that board is a great idea the lifter is great too i have the hand held sucky lifter wish i had the wheels MSH

the work looks class ,but a little slow with the sucky thing and messing around with that board
i maintain yorkstone is wasted on public pavements

So where should it be used?
The only thing wrong with the new yorkstone being laid nowadays is that it will be our grand-children and great grand-children who'll get to see it at it's best.
Some of the yorkstone laid around St. George's Hall in Liverpool around 100 years ago is just beginning to reveal its true character.

i mean the way its treated by chavs ,utility companys ,lagerlouts etc,etc
I pay £48 per week council tax,i dont really want my local council spending £100 a metre on yorkstone,when they can get council greys to do the same job for £10 per metre
they used yorkstone 100 years ago because they probably didnt have a choice (what choice would it have been? setts or yorkstone?)
and when they are specified its only ever right in the town centre for the retailers,out in the suburbs our pavements just get hooked up and replaced with bitmac
a lovely stone just wasted on high traffic pedestrian areas

fao the boss .the yorkstone around st georges hall is lovely old stone.walked round there a few times and parked on the street you done opp the tunnel entrance.i was on the hope street scheme a few years ago that was laid in a mixture of old york and new .little funny one for the forum .worked one night outside the liverpool philharmonic fixing a few setts .boss said it will be busy take the apprentice to help you with traffic etc .after three hours my m8 said its quiet here ,dont know what hes on about .half an hour late 1500 carol singers came out of philly hall chaos

LLL - Oh, now I see what you mean, and I agree.
However, there are a number of 'treatments' that are now being applied to some yorkstone installations that make it virtually impossible for gum to stick to the flags, and render them easier to clean of pavement pizzas and the other weekend detritus. Strangely, some of the best uses of these 'civic paving protector treatments' have been carried out using concrete block paving!
Personally, I'd prefer public culling of those who spit out gum - it's a filthy, disgusting and unhealthy habit.

I forgot to mention - the pointing mask: some bloke in Brum manufactures a placky version under the name "PointRite" and we trialled it a couple of years ago. He makes them in a variety of joint width and even has a radius version...
...from memory, I think they were a fiver each.

we put magi coat down on the yorkstone after laying .about 400 pound a drum .it allegedly stops the chewing gum from sticking ??? ??? ??? ??? ???
