I may be biased, but Stoke's ground, or the $hitannia as fellow Vale fans call it, was built and paid for by Stoke Council money, then sold to the club for less than build cost. It's built on the hill, with a lovely view of the incinerator. Any breath of wind is like an Arctic blast.
The planners conveniently forgot to build enough roads to allow the fans to leave the stadium without a 2 hour wait, and had to spend approx £2million on building a footbridge over the A50 for people to walk over, after a teenager was killed crossing the A50, trying to save himself a 4 mile walk to the nearest crossing.

Is it true that Phil Taylor defected from Vale to Stoke so he didn't have to pay his bar bill. Nick Hancock would never do that

I like the fact its on a hill,one of the windiest grounds ever
been to port vales old ground a couple of years ago (3-1 to us tommy) and it must have been massive when it was standing
that footbridge on the A50 is indeed a choke point and i didnt feel too comfortable walking over it with every other person in red and white
also some lad at stoke has a van covered in stoke paintings that was nice too

We've just appointed Jim Gannon as manager, much to the delight of Stoke fans, who hate him for some reason.
LLL, I can (only vaguely) remember when we had standing bits. My great uncle was a machine operator running a JCB 814 Powerslide, when most of the ground was converted to seating.

i cant remember the terraces at the vale but what i mean is its a massive ground,
little thing stay with you from away grounds like that
leyton orient have blocks of flats in the corner of their ground which is pretty weird
and luton have flats over the turnstiles for the away end,you have to walk through someones back yard to get into the ground
when i was a kid my aunty lived at 99 oak road in 1 of these flats and if you stood on the toilet seat you could see half the pitch as long as the police left the doors open at the back of the oak road
IMHO the new grounds i.e. ricoh,walkers,wembley,emirates,new den have lost a lot of their character with these modern functional stadia

i remember luton coming to anfield .didnt stop singing all night .was a monday night if i remember right .was a long time ago because the away fans were in the right hand corner of the anny road looking from the kop.

Went to a European match at O.T in the eighties and saw a guy outside the ground who had cut holes in a union jack bedspread for his head and arms in order to make a coat, and he had a bloody great drum with him.
Said to my mate i pity the poor sod he stands next too in the ground, 1 hour later i watched him enter the ground, come up the steps and of course stood straight in front of me.
Which i suppose made a change from the worlds tallest man (with spikey hair) who usually finds me at a match to spoil my view.

i recall in the early seventies about 200 Luton fans who had turned up at Bolton all dressed like clockwork orange with white baker's and braces, doc martins and black bowler hats...they was all in a row outside the station surrounded by police who had escorted them from the ground

Anyone who hasn't tried oatcakes has not lived. Bacon, cheese, mushrooms and brown sauce. Whenever I go up to Stoke the first stop is always Joes oatcakes on London Rd. The best oatcakes I ever had Tommy was from up on High Lane.
Jim Gannon used to play for Stockport County. Going back to 1993 Stoke had beaten Stockport County 2-1 and after the match Jim Gannon had refused to shake our Striker, Mark Steins hand. Apparently Stein then goaded Gannon about the scoreline and Gannon responded with a bit of alledgedly racist abuse. Stein then smacked Gannon in the mouth.
Case went to court and Stein was found guilty of assault although the judge conceded he had been subjected to extreme provocation.
Thats why Stoke fans hate Gannon
