The new place i've started at only run two vans, An ancient white Transit, and an equally ancient toyota something or other. As of the cold snap last week, the tranny is refusing to start at all.
While its being fixed, we have 'borrowed' the gaffer's Crew cab Ford Ranger. I have got to say it's terrible. The steering lock is god-awful; We have a tightish hairpin bend into the yard, our big New Holland TN85 and 4 tonne trailer swing round fine. Ranger you have to shunt about constantly.

apart from the doors being a pain to close and the weekly fuel bill touching £80 (due to distance more than anything) we have had 0 problems with the cabstar,starts every time and does what iot says on the tin

our old cabstar we used to run we swapped the wheels for range rover wheels and tires and when just running round with no real weight on we used to stack the back out with 60mm concrete slabs to improve the ride. was a great little work vehicle though.

Sadly just shy of 10 years and 77,000 miles the cabstar is going in the morning
I feel a little sad as it has never let me down mechanically,but the scattollini body has rusted like a peach and so the 7th MOT was going to cost more than it is worth
chatting to a guy with the new NT400 today and he highly recommended them compared to the older models
more cabin space
still feel like I need a vivaro or such but when I think of the number of tonnes I have picked up in the cabstar over they years ,she has earned her money
weird although its uncomfortable I have never really grown attached to a vehicle before?

My vivaro has been pretty reliable. No rust either

I'm on my fifth cabstar the latest being the NT400 and it is so much better than my previous cab which was new in 2007. It really is a pleasure to drive, the suspension is an easier ride, the gears are smooth and they've made the most of storage space in the cab, plus bluetooth etc.
Best in it's class I would say!

Oh, the body on my last one did cost to repair but now keep for 3-4 years and change.
