Just finished this today. The panoramic photo makes it look wonky if you zoom in due to patching it together poorly and me not being able to pan and stay level.
Bloody back breaker of a job. Under priced and behind schedule as usual... lol
Had to level it high cos garden was wonky and to put it down at ground level would have meant he would never be able to landscape level again without unearthing the fence on the other side to reduce levels.
You get the look of continuous wood from one side and you can step down. Mortised concrete doesn't allow you to play with levels.
Bugger to do though. Easy with wooden gravel boards but the concrete ones don't give you any freedom for errors. I wont be doing it again for less than 250 per bay. Posts are heavy AF too. Heavier than mortised.
Not sure what you meant by 6 inch wide at the posts

6inch wide at the posts, is that you have 2inch of gravel board, then the post behind.
Well I guess you can to some degree do it with mortised posts but you're governed by the step downs of the morise positioning on concrete posts. Some people just want continuous feathers all along.
I don't think the fence looks bad from the back side either IMO
Just started doing a bit of stone carving/lettering. Done 5 3 hour lessons so far, Hopefully turn it into a bit of a sideline doing house names/numbers, date stones, personalised gifts, logos and signing my own work and whatever else I can think of. Any ideas welcome.
