take it you realise these vents that they've installed are only a short term solution. never seen that done before.unbelievable.
doubt the sub-base is the problem,just bad hand raking along with poor levels,insufficient drainage and bad prep.

But yes a patch along the lines of LPAD'S idea sound the best remedy
That's what the contractor said also and he has convinced me to go ahead with drilling through the tarmac. Here's what it looks like now and it seems to be working - no puddle right outside the front door.

That's what I said in my original post. Where they are there will only be foot traffic.

It is possibly the equivalent of Latexite Ultra Shield.
