Well the work was scheduled for yesterday, but seems it didn't happen. SW can't tell me whether or not it did as they can't get an answer from the contractors. Neigbours were apparently in all day and didn't see anyone so...

Anyway. Thanks very much for all yor help people. This forum is pretty darn good.

What about this idea I heard on the news this morning about needing planning permission for paved driveways? Bad news?

Well just to let you know, the job is now complete (fingers crossed). They didn't come Tuesday, had a mechanical failure Wednesday and returned to finish it Thursday. Spent all day on the phone Thursday trying to find out if it had been done, to be told by five different people there was a broken saw and they would return to finish it Friday. On phoning Friday morning I was told it had been completed Thursday morning! Turn out the communication between SW and the contractors is non-existant. Didn't get home until Saturday morning, then discovered they'd done the job, but left all the pipes upstream completely bunged up! So had to wait all day - SW couldn't get hold of contractors, so sent one of their own round. Arrived at 7pm and was there until 9.30, but thankfully managed to rod it all out, then had to go through five gardens rodding through all the excess crap. I could have kissed him.
