Trying to get back on topic after all the music comparing I'd like to firstly say I have been in the trade now for 16 years and have used string lines for slab laying all the time and If I didn't think that this method was easier quicker or more cost effective I certainly wouldn't be doing it. Once the level is set to the required grade it used for the digging out, levelling of sub-base installing of all edging blocks and then the flags. When laying a random patterned layout it is a complete nightmare moving lines back and forth ensuring they are taught this eliminates all of this. With regards to the noise of th receiver as mentioned you can mute the tone but it's more convienient if you can hear it. The amount of time you hear the noise is minimal in the video I put it on all four corners As an example. I'd like to have access to the completely silent diggers, kangos and cutters you's must have.
I thought I'd just show how I use the laser for the laying of flags as I have nver heard of anyone else doing this.
By the way I like to listen to kisstory at 11 then anything without people talking bollocks after that

Pink your spot on with the laser I used a single grade to sett out stone paving on a circle 13mx13m all stone was water jet cut tolerance mm laid iner middle and outer then infilled with granite not one line 100m2 will try post pic they are the nits nuts I hired mine for 60£ week did have a chart with all falls on it

I couldn't hack the beeping all day! And handy for cookies big circles because you gotta be spot on with them or he'll rip it out on a Friday! " right is right".. But I have mastered the art now with strings, screed rails and a fooking big lump 'o' wood, cheers Bruce! BTW think its over the top for patios after determining levels and falls ..... String line tight as a banjo for me..

We've seen the standard of your work, I don't think any of us doubt that it works for you. I am glad you posted the video though, always interested in seeing different methods, seeing how other people work. I may give laying with a laser level a bash one day along with pulling a drunk minger :laugh:
