another question, how are these steps supported on the side? or are the steps built into the slope (image from main site)

that looks unfeasibly good pippasmum :)
there are many ways to do steps like that,sometimes its just a brick at the front and lean mix behind it
or sometimes there is brickwork supporting it all the way around
fine looking patio,well done!

thanks guys, one or four flags are slighty higher than others but not enough that people will trip lol really wanted to get it right and safe

the rest of the garden slopes down so was thinking with what i have left over i can do some kind of simple steps, the garden is much bigger than i thought, in the end i laid the patio to cover a 16sqmm there is alot left to do but taking a couple of weeks off now phew, wouldn't have been able to do it without your help on here :D

That is what this site is all about. A hard working housewife, mother etc can do a good job like that with the help of this site. the patio is a credit to you pip'. Jobs a good 'un :)

It might be an idea to haunch the exposed edge, just to stop any movement.
