Yeah the traffic cops and VOSA will only usually dip the tank, but HMC&E are a formidable force. Never under-estimate them or their powers!

Strangely enough, when I was pulled for a vehicle check, my fuel wasn't checked - no that I had any worries there but it was one check they missed.

Customs once visited a site we were working on for VAT reasons. The Site agent asked what they would do if he didn't hand over all of the files relating to their subbie. Customs people stated that he would be arrested, site shut and his head office would also experience the same. This was AMEC Construction.

on the subject of red diesel...truck mounted concrete pumps all run on red diesel.Usually the bigger pumps have enormous diesel tanks built into the outrigger legs.

This is why they are not allowed to carry bags of cement to grout the lines, always provided by the hirer. If they had dust on board, they would be classed as carrying goods and thereby liable for higher fuel duty...as told to me by numerous pochin and camfauds drivers over the years.

funny how they cant carry dust, but once theyve washed out...any of that 4"x2" going spare, any slabs/blocks etc etc going begging????
