tony whats the story with gibbs and dandy. I had a load of bricks off butterfields delivered last week, including 150 "flettons" which had moss growing on them, and they were wrapped up in gibs and dandy tape!!

they help each other out from time to time ,its a common occurrence
the reps keep telling us that bricks are going to run out very shortly due to massive lack of supply and huge demand

sounds like bollox to me

if they run out we will use a different brick

simple

we had to get permission to use the footpath and road
its been a pain as every day the footpath has to be cleared and we have to have cones signs etc
about 90 minutes a day setting up and taking down

yes mick
we are going to have to bank the trench out to 1100 wide and step it down
not really happy but the other option is fill the holes in ,make good and tell the oak company we dont need the orangery
I have done 2.4 by hand before and know its a pig of a job

fair play to you and your lads, no mean task digging a normal depth footing of 900mm deep but 2.1 metres down plus the additional removal of earth to bank the sides down is some dig, I look forward to seeing the photos :)

Is mini piling not an option Tony?
I see it being used more and more these days if deep foundations are needed due to poor ground, deep drains etc.
Its also cost effective.
Like yourself, we have done our fair amount of hand digging, and 2.1 isn't pleasant, good luck!
