I've never laid anything as riven as that before but she went down and picked it out from the merchants her self so I had to get on with it but it wasn't as hard to keep level as I thought it would be.
TBH Tony I did no where near enough prep work before I started this job. The pattern I used was out of the stone craft brochure. If I had drawn it out on CAD first I'd done thing's differently. I'll take what you said on board and apply it to the next job. I had a lot on with 2 bigger jobs as far as planning was concerned and underestimated this one with it only being 15m2.
I went in too cheap as well. £1250. Iwon't be doing that again but she definatley got her money's worth.
I found the wetherpoint very easy to use and without question a lot less back ache than a wet sand/cement mix. I was a bit worried about about how well it will cure and how long it will take in the current weather conditions but I rang my Marshalls rep and he assured me that it will be fine.
Fingers crossed I wont be going back raking it all out and spending a day re-pointing.

I'm in Leicester Matey.
I always lay the Edges on 6" of concrete when I lay tegs Tony. Only reason being I hate seeing them laid against edgings. I gave it a right good haunch because there's going to be cars driving over that foot path once completed.
The skip doesn't look as bad without the bushes on top. just put them up there out the way before it get's swapped tomorrow.

I know what you are saying but structurally edgings/kerbs beat a haunch no matter how good
obviously edgings are time consuming but for vehicles i feel its a better job
what i meant was a lot just lay the body of the paving and bang a trowelful of muck around the outside
sure fail

I know what you you meant Tony. I also agree that a kerb or edging is better and structurally stronger way of doing things . TBH it'd been quicker to lay the edgings than over 100 linear meters of teg's on 6" of concrete but I just don't like em against rumbled blocks or natural stone. Just me.
Lemoncurd, I really like the work you've done on that garden.
Had a good day on today. Been training up 2 new labourers. My son and his cousin Jack.

On this job I've got to think about the weight on top of the edging as well as movement left and right.
Most of the paving I see could of been done better.
From what I've seen so far everyone on this site takes a lot of pride in there work and likes to do things properly.
In certain aspects of my work, especially when it comes to laying stone I'm still learning so I'll be sticking around for the foreseable

I found the site through a quest for knowledge and am happy to learn as much as I can
I shudder at some of the things I have seen done on sites in the interests of an early finish or that'll do
plus its a good craic in the brew cabin
