what a wasted oppurtunity to make that into a drive.
Why turn down work because of the 'area Sy and people', work is work where ever it is surely ??? And not all people are bad because of the area, i mean take me for instance..........point taken :;):

We get to work in some lovely areas
The finished job
We didn't sample any beer in the beer garden but it made a great setting for consuming our lunchboxes!

That is a nice place to work Dave but I doubt I'd get much done in a beer garden
Sean, I'll work on rough estates. I grew up on one. All the houses in the area I did the slabbing are private and the people that live in them have money.
Trouble is they want everything "very cheap mate"
Nuff said.

.....I seem to remember guys on here last year taking anything that goes and advising others to 'take what you can get to feed the kids' ??? ???
Word of mouth is word of mouth wherever it comes from, so is money. From little acorns..........

you should never pre judge any one no matter where they live as they could be your next customer and a business without customers is not a business any more

You get an instant feel for the clients who are looking for the cheapest of cheap jobs, I don't judge anyone, I give a fair price for both parties and leave it at that.
Some of the people living on council estates etc etc are some of the nicest and trustworthiest people you could wish to meet.....whereas the people in posh houses...........

did i say that sean? i cant recall that
by high I mean decent jobs
as soon as i get a prospective client telling me how much their drive/patio/extension *should* cost i switch off
we only want to compete on quality not price, because theres loads doing that
I may not be the best but thats what I am aiming for
if you go in at 50 quid a metre its unachievable
if you leave a job 100% nailed then you get referrals and reccomendations

Don't know what you mean by ''taking the decent jobs.'' I thought is what us who did decent work for any client for a fair price. I was made redundant after 12 years because i wouldn't compromise on quality and safety. The last job i was on for LOR was being paid for by us with our taxes and water bills and the quality was disgusting, i did a decent job but was up against it. There are good hard working people on any estate in England, even Benefit St had some. One time i was in a similar situation and the neighbours were asking me to do some work for them, i went down the whole St and made a killing, it was handy to be in the same area for a few weeks.

on a different note sean you posted photos a while back of the drains you had been working on contained inside the steel mesh prior to pouring the concrete and you said you would post more photos as the job progress but never did
do you have any photos as I recall the workmanship was awesome
