I know i was a wee nipper, but did Gordon Brown not lead us out of the last reccession when he was chancellor, and everyone praised him?

I dont know know if that is correct or not, but if he did, surely he know's what he is doing and should be left to do the same again?

But i do agree alot of what comes out of their mouths realy does p*ss me off, they can never ever seem to answer a question - just skirt around it?!

I agree with the voting thing people did an awfull lot for the right to vote.

To be honest, when labour first came to power we were in the final stages of recession, Gordon Brown basically stuck to the Conservative party spending plans for the first 2 years. This was the Chancellor who sold Britain's gold reserves at rock bottom prices (he actually forced the price right down, China made almost 400million out of his stupidity in less than 5hrs, today gold traders have a term for when the market crashes - Brown Bottom in honor of our prime minister. This is the man who couldn't keep a pound of our money in his pocket if it was the price of a ticket out of hell.

Rant over

when labour were a labour party it was worth voting,i.e. jim callaghan and john smith
pure labour men
but the way labour has gone now i can see no difference between them and the tories

FTR i have voted green and lib dem in local stuff as these people actually are for the community in which they live

I wouldnt mind tax being higher if it was spent on education and health
but not to bail out greedy bankers and bomb countries that I only know from TV

+ 10 ,Rab. :;):

If I do a job, I walk away from it thinking 'Im happy with that'
I dont think Gordon has this ethos.

He bungling through our country like a bufoon and doesnt have the good sense (or is too pig headded) to let someone else in the party have a go.

Did you know hes registered as 'Gordon Brown plc' at companies house? How can a registered business be good for the UK?

No he didn't! The economy was already out of recession and the country was on a high with the landslide election. I came back that year after three years of living in the US and couldn't believe the difference in mood. That's what got the economy on the move. GB has had the good fortune to preside over a decade of strong growth in a stable world economy .... until last year.

That gobshite's favourite saying since 1997 has been 'gone are the days of boom and bust' and his favourite watchword: 'prudence.'

How prudent is it to have borrowing at the equivalent of £26,000 for every man, woman and child in this country, the highest since WWII. As for the end of 'boom and bust'? I hope he's hoisted by his own bloody petard.

This is also the man (labour party) who has increased the civil service to a level previously unheard off, all on index linked pensions etc, we all pay more tax for these useless wasters to be looked after in old age, while our private pensions are worth nothing due to the fact as chancellor Gordon Brown changed the tax laws an ripped over a billion from the private pension market and keeps doing so.

The Labour Party have a habit of announcing new taxes on a Friday night when parliament is empty and the press have gone home.

At least Dick Turpin had the decency to wear a mask.

forgot to mention in the above post. I still pay my union dues every week, have done since I served my time. I`m staff now but still pay as you never know when you might need there support. phoned them at the start of the year to tell them i`d cancel my membership if they still give a percentage of my money to Labour. A party I would now not vote for, rep told me that he`s had a lot of people express the same sentiment. said he had just returned is party membership card.

This time last year his own party were trying to knife him in the back. The recession saved his bacon, he lapped up the adulation from Obama and the like as 'leading the world out of it'. Whats he done so far? Nish.
The trillions he lent to the banks was for lending to stimulate the economy, none of which has been forthcoming. Theres crisis talks with the banks to release equity ,whilst they (the banks) publishing record profits
85% of the UK's GDP is from service industries, 65% of which reside in the Square Mile in London. So he cant afford to let the banks go under as over half of the UK's economy will go with it. Therefore, the banks know they've go him by the balls and are effectively running the economy.

I did like the Hamlet reference ,Rich

"For tis the sport to have the enginer Hoist with his owne petar"

not sticking up for GB but the tories led us into the last recession

I honestly believe that politicians have no impact on the economy whatsoever,it all market forces

saw esther rantzen on the news tonight, and i quote "when i saw south luton,i fell in love with it"

really esther?? what was it? the derelict car factories, the abundance of halal fried chicken and pound shops?
the arndale shopping centre with a third of the shops shut?

or was it a chance for a bit of self promotion in a place no one gives a monkeys about?

in fairness she has done a lot of good for kids etc and consumer issues, but as a MP she has little experience of luton

Its a nice pension . The only reason Julie Kirkbride wont resign. If she stands down at the next election, shes still entitled to it.
Local people should stand and make a mockery of these career MPs. I bet half the salary of an MP would be adequate to live on for Mr average.

Rantzen will get the Luton seat just on celeb status only.....not on her qualifications, which seem to be mostly gained judging the genitalia of deformed carrots.

At least she will be a pain in the arse for PM's questions for a while.
