recently me father and i worked together on a short contract for the first time in twenty years. DAY 1 was fine, day 2 was becoming strained and day 3 was just about allout war. I know he has had over 20 years more construction experience than meself but I have moved with the times and after all it was my contract! I found it best to just let him get on with his section, and when he went home just altered it to the way i wanted it. I now know why both my brothers had given up working with him.... he just cant admit that he needs to take a back seat and let us youngsters have a go,,,ps, I'm fifty, and he's mid seventies, so he's not doin so bad, If i could afford to pay his rent i would, so he wouldnt have to work... but i think that would probably kill him

would have loved t see it. too many skill are bein lost due to either lack of apprenticeships or lack of candidates. Some goodnews though, one colege in my area is getting their second year students to do some of the old stuff..spiral columns and different arches , christ if i had a pound for the number of centres i/ve made...so hopefully others are following suit.

Having just got the OK from the HLTG to do a one-day course on linear channel installation, I wonder if they;d be happy for me to expand it next year and do a two day "well building" course?
We'd need a dry site, obv!
