Thanks steve r. That is a brilliant site and kinda the first one to not make you feel as if all hope is lost!
Believe me, it may have been around since the Carboniferous period but it aint come across someone as stubborn as me.
And if I have to hand inject every flaming stem? Watch me!!

Ive tried injecting the stem...good luck. Maybe the needle I use was too thick, but had little success. The stems are not hollow as they appear so it is difficult to force the weedkiller out of the syringe. I ended up splitting most of the stems and squirting weedkiller everywhere. Grass seems to be effective but no use on my drive.

O.K I am scared to say this but I might be winning.
It loves moisture so I dumped a load of salt along the cracks and let the rain take it down. (Historical note: Carthage was destroyed by this act)
And I do a recce every day (sad I know) and pull up every single stem I see.
Apparently if you do this for three years during the months March to September it will starve as it does not take in enough nourishment.
Sadly I have a neighbour who has a *%"**"* plantation of the stuff next door.
I explained to him that he must dig it out. He started, did half and then lost interest.
I gave him some weedkiller but what else can I do except stand over him with a raised shovel.
I am going to go round.....not to kill him....but to weed.
My dear Dad always said "If you want a job doing properly...do it yourself"
And this house is just a refurb I have done. Sadly it may be someone elses problem next year and I feel uncomfortable with that.

And there is a film starring Rowan Atkinson and Maggie Smith called "Keeping Mum" where she quite cheerfully dispatched all the neighbours who p****d her off!!!!
I may also be seen at the full moon dancing round and reciting said spell
"Horsetail horsetail do not thrive
Grow on someone elses drive!
