for a pro a 16 m2 patio is a small 2-3 days project FB
1 skip should do it all day long
fair enough if you are coining it in doing the maintenance jobs
me and a mate laid 22M 2 of random indian stone in a day the other week
our record is 40m2 for a 3 man team in coursed
of course access etc can cause issues but you are correct best not to do it if you dont feel you can give it 100%
cheers LLL

I hardly use skips. I always load my truck up and dump it cos I'm generally local to 1 of 3 recycling centres.
The biggest thing is, I don't want to over charge her. Someone who does this sort of thing day in day out will KNOW how long things take and I just don't.
I'm not coining it though. Some days go to shit and I earn not a lot others I earn really good money. It depends on stuff and things

I just laid 26m of random sandstone on my todd today. that is with mortar delivered into tubs and only a couple of cuts.
A 16m patio on grass could be dug out and stone brought in within the same day.
A day to shift flags, fine tune levels and compact and lay maybe a half
A morning to lay the rest and tidy up edges turf etc then a couple of hours to point with a compound or a morning to point by hand.
All of that is not pushing at all and mixing youself.
I laid a small rectangular one last year which was 21m on grass and it took pretty much bang on 3 1/2 days on my own, one to dig, one to stone, shift and set up lines rails etc, one to lay and half to point and tidy up. Made good money out of it at 100/m
Adding in circles, setts borders etc all adds to the cost and time.

Have you tried using readymixed luton?
It lets you fly through it.

They have a minimum of 1 cube. obviously bricklaying mortar is no use but they do render which is 5:1 plastering sand:cement with a bit of plasticiser.
The render is only available with 8 hour retarder though so it needs used that day.
Its 100 quid for a cube (3 tubs) of render including vat and delivery.
What i normally use though is 5:1 screed but mixed up to a bricklaying consistancy with a bit of plasticer. they can put 8, 24, 36 or 48hr retarder in.
Because its a special mix that no-one else wants its more expensive as it comes to my delivery and can't do others on the same run.
Its 120 + Vat per cube.
When you consider that making up a cube will take 1.5t of grit sand and 13 cement.
So maybe 50 for 2 bulks bags of sand and 50 for cement its a no brainer for me.
I'm in northern ireland sorry bodgit, the ferry cost would probably be cost prohibitive. :p
Also stuff like this is generally a little cheaper over here.
