Riven slabs fitted on building sand - Need your advice - urgently

Patio flagstones (slabs), concrete flags, stone flags including yorkstone and imported flagstones.

I read this read yesterday and slept on it, trying to get a feel for whats happened. If your handyman has cleared the vegetation properly, has compacted the area with a whacker plate, established a good weed inhibitor, and laid the slabs on at least 50mm of the sand/cement mix ( preferably somewhere round 3:1, 4:1, 5:1, the mix was damp to the extent that it will 'go off', you said you're happy with the layout the levels the fall, then ask him if he will repair any defects within 2 years (should be 1 yr), then pay the guy and be happy. ALso, in a few instances the right side of an Indian sandstone flag is that horrible that it would be criminal to place it. I've assumed this to be a pedestrian only patio, unless you add a picture or two, its hard to make a fairer judgement.

Type 1 subase is, supposedly, 37.5mm to dust, so, following the "twice the largest particle size" rule, the minimum sub-base depth has to be 75mm. The reasoning is explained here.
