mick you have to nip it in the bud now mate. If it comes on top, you will be the one getting the biggest lump banged up. Receiving stolen goods makes you a fence make no mistake, no matter what it is. I used to be that guy a long time ago. The attraction is you have the money so he/they know they're guaranreed money up front. F*** him off now and any of his cronies come around do the same. Might be worth hiring a minder for a couple of days to reinforce the message

I agree with Sean, get rid of this guy. He sounds like bad news who will bring you nothing but trouble. Not sure about the minder though, might inflame the situation

the reason i say that Steve, is because Mick sounds a nice guy who has given the guy lots of chances to get his act together. The 'guys' sound determined and taking advantage of Micks' good nature. It doesn't have to be a top minder, just someone a bit useful. You know you'd be liable for him driving your plant whilst pissed? You have a reputation to protect so need to out him soon as and his pals.

Check my spelling, i said useful, not useless :;):
I know that when i was doing a bit of ducking and diving, i was a right pain. Having worn the t-shirt i do know what i am talking about when it comes to dealing with that type of guy. They can be unpredictable when they are lashed up and need to sell some bent gear. Outing a bunch of guys, on drink and quite possibly drugs who know you are the golden goose can turn nasty. I've been paid to give people in Mick's situation a chuck on in the past and the lads never came back for seconds. :;):

I hear ya Sean, but what happens on day 3 when your minders gone home? I've had to let quite a few go over the years and have had about 3 turn nasty. Its usually just a pride thing and they feel like they have to give one last show of strength. Had one guy refused to leave the office once and was threatening to burn down the office. He then sat on the car park staring at the office for an hour, when I left in the van he followed me in his car. I thought it was hilarious.
Is the guy a "mate" Mick (someone you sort of know). Best thing to do is just get rid without delay, explain your reasons bung him a coupe of extra quid and walk away

its 2012 sean not 1982
my old fella is very much of your era, when things got sorted with a slap
people go to court (big money if you are working) and prison for that sort of thing all the time now
people come and people go @work
I have never said "you are sacked "
its "we have got nothing else for you after this weeK"
there was a lad in the pub after work yesterday bemoaning getting bagged off a big civils outfit,he had missed 4 shifts in 3 weeks,
back in the day hardly anyone used to get a full week in subbie gangs, monday club etc etc
all changed now

It's not about the employee, it's the other guys i was on about. Mick will know the lad who works for him but not the others. I didn't mention 'slapping' anyone, just need to be there if they come selling moody goods. Never mind, it was just a thought ???

like Triple L said tell him you have no more work after this week plus if you stand your ground and tell him to stop bringing stolen good as your not interested - then if he still persists and you feel intimidated do as sean says but only as a last resort
