i doubt that these mini crushers can justify the purchase costs comparing to ripping up landfilling and replacing with virgin mot type one.the saving if anything is too small.

i'm sure the only way is to make some reclamation requirements for a certain contract.

we used the tcp recently for replacing slabbed footpaths. we saved on the type one cost, but its a lot slower than the old method.i wont be buying one and probably wont use again.

agreed, its a great piece of kit,i just dont think you can get a decent return for an investment of near 30k.

it may change in the future, but at the moment the saving in avoiding landfill and buying sub-base costs are offset by the hire/purchase outlay and the increase in time it takes to lift, crush and place compared to the usual method.

whilst i agree the initial outlay is not justified (£16,500+vat which is why i hire mine out to get the money back), the cost of hiring to the end user is.
Only last week, i hired it to a builder who had demolished an old extension and a concrete drive, and wanted to crush it to use as over site on his new extension.
He had a quote for a grab lorry of £320 to take away the rubble, and another of £200 for bringing the crushed back in.
I hired him my machine, £160 for the day, and he was quids in.

What you have to take into account is the time saving, and quality end product.

How many of us have had a load of crushed delivered to find it is full of cement bags, wood, nails and sawdust?

As an example, if you were working round the back of a property and had broken up an old patio, walls and paths what would you normaly do?
Spend all day barrowing round to a skip, then barrowing all the crushed back in. So you've got the trouble of barrowing into a skip (or using a skip loader), the delivery of crushed to wait for and the barrowing it all back again. And assuming you could get it all in one skip of course

With a crusher, you take the machine to where the concrete is and crush it there and then.

There are now strict regulations that state any building works over £200,000 MUST have a SWMP in place (site waste management plan), and all concrete and rubble must be dealt with on site.

Whilst i am unsure as to if it works or not, one of my customers crushes to 20mm , mixes it with sand and cement and pours it back in as footings for the new build. (it has been passed by a bs by the way)

There is a future for crushing on site, and all the time landfill goes up, and the quality of crushed deterioates, then the crusher becomes more attractive to all

thats dissapointing you did not get on well. Who did you hire from and how much was it?
Sounds like you weren't set up properly

i find it worth hiring we crush all flags, old blockpaving, walls and concrete (also all offcuts) that we take up from driveways and patios so we save on landfill and save on mot.only problem is only two hire companies in lancashire have 3.5 ton crushers and both are good few miles away ie £50 delivery and both are red rhinos

Does anyone know of a company in the Dorset area that hires Mini Crushers, preferably one like Dan's with the conveyor. Only need one for a day to crush up all the waste I've currently got on site.
