Mick G - there is a smaller belle than the one i mentioned i think its called a "mini pack" and they are in my opinion complete crap - the next size up is the one i have and it seems pretty good, i have a much bigger belle one aswell seem good to me i use this one more often on driveways etc

i had a branded wacker one for 10 years, till the gippos came a calling
what is MBW mick?
also have you tried rollers?
personally i have never had a problem with a plate as long as sufficient passes have been maded
i like 4 passes in different directions, where possible
as i said earlier the roller seems to rut it for us,plus more chance of damaging bwk/kerbs
LLL ???

regarding wacking, I kind of know when it is wacked as the surface has no voids in it,all the fines have been brought to the surface
we tried a roller on subbase a couple of times but found it rutted it and was a pain in the behind
A lot of tools are getting cheaper now,but i still prefer named brands,my hilti drill cost £450 8 years ago but is good as new, bosch and black and decker seem to die annually
so Will ,get the best you can afford m8

:)
cheer for that bud, Thats what I was thinking buy a cheapish one for this job and a few jobs at home then upgrade once i get the final payments and run 2 which would mean i could run 1 at each site then :)

MBW Vibrating plates

I use the bomag 1200 roller if the driveway is big enough, that get the hard core very well compacted

Hiya Wills. I'm not in the trade but I bought a used Wacker March/April 2008 from ebay to do a series of jobs at home.
If you're going for a used one how much of a rush are you in?
I've just had a look on ebay and there seems to be very few used machines for sale at the momemt
When I was looking for one they were coming up regularly, so perhaps this is the wrong time of the year?

Not much help if you've got jobs waiting, if that's the case I'd do as LLL sugests.
I stand to be corrected but perhaps go for a 5.5hp engine and try to stay clear of the lightweight machines?

found this one on ebay
mbw
strangely enough i hire plant off them on a weekly basis and they never mentioned they were flogging stuff
its not a particularly heavy one but ok for paths patios and over sites
what do you think i should go top bid mick?
its only a 5 minute drive from my house so it would be nice to win it,plus i know the owner paul :)
I would appreciate it ,if members of the brew cabin could avoid bidding against me,
cheers fellas :)

would of thought in the region of £150 - £200

the only comparison price I can find is off the same dealer for a new GP 1200 is £675.49 including vat

also listed on [url=http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/MBW-GP1200S-ULTRA ... dZViewItem
?rvr_id=&rvr_id=&cguid=138072891260a0aad4c64fb6ff77cc4e]ebay[/url]

you would not be upset using a MBW vibrating plate Luton, in fact you will be kicking yourself for not buying one earlier :D

last 2 we bought were circa £400+vat
Dig dug dan's m8 reckoned it was impossible but they are a stihl dealer so its legit

this was the style they made 15 years ago which had the anti vibration handle then

Vibrating Plate

the lifting handles are both in line so one person can lift it, the belle i hired last year had offset handles so its not possible for one person to lift it without being out of balance and pulling your guts out

are you meaning TS410 for £400 ?

so after reading some reviews and what not i have come up with a choice of 2 diff plates

I only need the plate for 20 days of work and then my neighbours are buying it from me (he has no idea about them so can make a bit on it) for there new build house (and also getting me to do there landscaping) wohooo

so its a choice of this:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws....EWAX:IT

slightly expensive

or this:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws....EWAX:IT

a lot cheaper and means i wouldnt have to charge my neighbour as much afterwards hey?

Plus i got a call about a job with a big payout so should be able to afford a brand new
:p belle or the like from Machine Mart when i get payed.

seems a good idea to me plus when im done i can write a decent review on one of them?

TS410 are down to £425+ vat.

I used the ts400 for best part of 15 years and before that the ts350, since getting the 410 its now out of service as the 410 anti vibration is so much smoother

yeah can't wait for the review Will :p

my mates the plant manager for speedy, once told me what they pay for a stihl saw, buy direct from the factory. that's why after a year they sell them and buy new ones, well maintained but normally have the crap kicked out of them when on hire as their hired.
God loves a tryer
