It's only on narrow driveways that we do the strip of concrete, about 75/100mm of 4/1 mix just shovelled and whacked/rolled on the area the vehicle is running over constantly. Then we leave it 20mm low to allow the bed of sharp sand.

Once upon a time I lived at Grappenhall ('43/44) but now I'm on the edge of the black bit near Leatherhead. It's wet here. We are on a quite a slope well above any real flooding but the end of the garden is under water - I think it's a built over winterbourne.
I feel for anyone trying to do any groundwork around here (Cookie I'm thinking of you). My wife does a bird survey on Ashtead Common and she said that last year it was just mud, mud & more mud. Since then it's rained and rained. There was also a problem about contamination of the Ryebrook with filtration tankers parked about the roads.

Guys, guys, guys, whatcha gotta remember is that even though S.Wales may appear to be somewhat unscathed on that image, don't forget that we have already borne the brunt of that stinking rain.

here in the dirty south we most certainly are not used to it :laugh:
