Wow! That is completely different..thanks for going to the trouble.

Even the dry blocks in your photos seem to have that 'rice-crispie' effect.

I agree that mine are completely different but the pics i've posted doesn't show anywhere near how bad they were previously. In fact, it looked rather similar to your first pic from distance with all of the medium and small blocks being dark...hardly as the brochure depicted.

Anyway, you've put my mind at rest somewhat, so thanks for that. I'll montor things over the wet months to come, hopefully it wasn't the Keybond and just natural hydration that has improved things.

Were the darker blocks comming straight out of the pack like that or did they only go darker when laid ?

It did look like some of the larger block were ok..

The outcome on the job shown was that the blocks eventually (ie 6 months later) dried out and the customer wasn't overly concerned, so they remained in place. On another job, however (I can't publish the photos because I don't have the permission of the property owner and he seems to have changed email address), the affected blocks had to be replaced, with costs covered by Marshalls.

On the photos I have published above, the affected blocks were distributed throughout the packs. The contractor assumed the blocks, which were damp in the pack, would dry out after 24 hours in the August sunshine, and so it was a bit of a shock to see them retain moisture for months, right through until the following spring, in fact.

Tony, do you agree with Marshalls then that my blocks should eventually acclimatise and stop showing dampness as in the pics? They have all dried out in the past (when we were able to put the Keybond on on top up the joints) but in this damp weather they tend to be damp on a morning, drying out to the level in the pics by mid afternoon. The other blocks are always fine and dry extremely quickly.

I'm at a disadvantage because I've only seen the photies you've provided, but I'd be reasonably confident that, in a few months time, they'll be indistinguishable from the rest of the paving.
