surprised you use hardcore nigel?
unless i crush it myself I dont trust the suppliers
I find hessian is ok for frosty nights but little use when you get the minus 5 jobbies that we have had the last 10 days
been out insulating and tacking today
devil finds work for idle hands and all that :;):
cheers LLL

By hardcore I mean Dpt type 1. We have got 3 quarries all within 15 miles. All with very good limestone type 1 . Ex works about £9 per ton. Delivered about £11 per ton for minimum 20 ton loads
Never touch crushed or recycled stuff . Not worth the risk especially when the type 1 is at those prices !
If I double up the hessian it works to around minus 5-6. On a job beginning December when we had minus 10 overnight, we doubled up hessian and then laid heavy haulage tarps over the drive. Worked a treat
I have been looking for some heavy duty frost blankets that can re rolled up and re used. Local bm ordered me a roll. It was just polystyrene first sign of wind it would have torn to shreds.

I came back from a meeting in Manchester on Tuesday night, around about 10:30pm, on the M62 heading towards Warrington at a steady 80mph (my speedo is out by at least 10mph Mr Poliss man, sir), and I got overtaken by a Lard Rover with a snow-plough attachment on the front!
I swear that blade was no more than 150-200mm off the ground. Imagine hitting one of them bumps where the M62 goes over Risley Moss and the tip of the plough digging into the blacktop at 90mph!

No ice ring all week, the gritters were out Monday and cleared the snow from the roads, still no collections. Followed the council 'Twatter' feed and everyone's saying 'get them out spreading grit then!!!'rimexboy wrote:Henpecked our road was an ice rink but give the council credit they sent a grit lorry down the day before bin collection day, but it may have just been coincidence

Have only done two days this week, rest of it has been in the office pricing and dealing with general admin.
I'm hoping to get out and see a few people tomorrow, all in all a very frustrating week. (And expensive)
