why is there what appears to be a piece of wood jammed into the circle in the foreground?

I still cant figure out how a gradient level spinning outside a circle can do the levels around the circumference
surely it would have to be dead centre of the circle for that to work

thats a checker set with a line to outside bands there are four in al n s e w it all helps the outside of circle is now 25 liner meter long

LLL . the laser is set away from the circle, but on a leval grade,cookie has set a straight edge as a datum for the grade, on every course he sets the detector on the grade datum, then checks ever 6 sets say around the circle to keep the fall, then using a lump of oak levals them up between each other,
it took a bit of working out but we got there in the end,
could you expliain it any better cookie MSH

well boyos todays work done 24 m2 aprox 2000 setts laid aprox 6000 taps with 1.5 lb lump hammer no wonder my ham strings are screaming help pic to follow and time lapse ps 3 bottles of henry westons vintage 8.2 then some ipa gold helps :p :p :p http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nDB8kiwEL_E&feature=youtu.be

Did you have to disc a line to meet the old concrete. ? Looks ten times better.

Cookie a wider view would be better, over a longer period so you can see the transformation maybe over the entire job, 1 photo a minute gives you 1second of video is 24minutes

I aint no cameraman simon :;):
job was a bit of a ball breaker as front and rear paths were level so had to introduce a 20mm crossfall away from the front door
yes the pulvex blade made short work of the old concrete dan
took 10 mins each front and rear to go through 100MM of concrete
